Why are we here?

Is there life after death?

Does God Exist?

Have you ever wondered why we are here?

Do you think we are essentially physical beings or is there more to it?

It would be totally impossible for us to answer these questions completely in this short space so all we are doing is giving you a taste of the truth. It may be our truth and the truth of many other people but it may not be your truth and you shouldn’t just take our word for it. It is very easy to sit and listen to someone else’s view of life but much more satisfying to find out for yourself. Truth and belief are very personal things and from a purely physical, earthly point of view, are a result of our education and life experiences so far. So, once you have read this listen to and read other explanations and then decide for yourself.  We have put a selection of spiritual organisations, publications and websites on the Links page to give you some where to start.

Are we essentially physical beings or is there more to it?

Physically we are a collection of cells and DNA that are unique and individual to us. At the moment no two people have exactly the same collection of cells or exactly the same DNA. Our genetic makeup is therefore individual and unique. Research shows that our genetic make up is responsible for many aspects of our abilities. These abilities help shape our lives and it is our lives and the experiences within those lives, the people we meet, the places we go to etc. that give us our view of life. We also have brains – these are like our computers. They assimilate and sift through vast quantities of information and stimuli and provide us with answers and evaluations that have their basis in logic. But this is just our physical selves and we are not just a physical entity.

We also have minds. This is the part of us that is responsible for our emotions and the emotional responses that we use to help think, reason, evaluate, and make decisions and judgements. Without our minds we would be little more than robots. This is another part of us that is unique and individual. Although we may think in a similar way to someone else we do not have exactly the same thought, phrased in exactly the same way and even if we did we would interpret it slightly differently and we would react to it slightly differently because we would have an individual and unique emotional response to it. It is here, when we are looking at our emotional responses, that we realise this part of us cannot be described as physical. We can’t see our minds, we can’t measure them (yet) but it is our minds that begin to define us as a person and that give us our ‘personality’. We have said that our minds are formed and shaped by our life experiences but we already appear to have our own ‘personality’ from birth. If our minds were only formed by the experiences here how can we explain this?

What makes each of us totally unique and individual is that aspect of us that we call our personality, that spark of some essence that is exclusively ‘us’. We, the essence of us, is a form of energy that we call ‘spirit’, the part the philosopher Descartes called our soul.

Home

As spirits (or energy) we exist in a place we call ‘Home’. (Religions refer to this place as ‘Heaven’, ‘Nirvana’, ‘Shangri-La’ etc). ‘Home’ is a highly structured organised place and it exists on another vibration. It exists at the same time and in the same space as earth and we can go there at any time once we know how. We do this by meditation. When we meditate we are raising our level of consciousness. It is by raising our level of consciousness that we raise our vibratory level and by doing this we can project ourselves to ‘Home’.

It is there that we, as spirits, began our existence and it is there where we, as spirits, chose this life. Yes I did say that we chose our lives. At Home there is no pain, no suffering, and no evil, nothing unpleasant at all. Because there are no negative emotions and experiences at Home it would be impossible for us (our spiritual selves) to know what negative means let alone how it feels. By negative emotions I am talking about hate, anger, despair, greed, jealousy, envy, intolerance, lust and the varying physical manifestations of those emotions - pain, suffering, depression, unhappiness, insecurity and control – and finally the effects of those negative emotions on the world as a whole - wars, famines, genocide, etc. So why do we have to experience these things? What will we gain from them?

So why are we here?
