As this will no longer exist after today, Sunday 25th May the SWA have started a new campiagn to ask the government to create legislation that recognises genuine mediumship and healing and gives statutory protection to genuine Spiritualist, spiritualistic and spiritual practioners. We have received a response from the OFT. It appears they do not think the sector needs regulating so they have refused our offer to become a regulating organisation.

This begs the question: if the sector does not need regulating then why has the government seen fit to repeal the 1951 FMA Act and replace it with the Consumer Protection Regulations?

Breaking News : 22nd January 2008

Over the past few days we have been contacted by several national and international spiritualist organisations and with their support and encouragement have applied to become the single regulatory organisation for all spiritual workers in the UK. This will be done in conjunction with the Scottish Spiritualist Federation who are also applying independently, as per Scottish law. There can only be one UK regulating authority. We believe, although we cannot confirm, that the SNU, having been aware of the changes for some time, is also applying. We have received confirmation from the OFT that they have received our application.

As we wish to be truly representative of all spiritual workers we would like those organisations who we have not yet heard from to come on board. By working together we can achieve the aims stated above. This is to ensure that all spiritual workers are recognised and valued and that the public is protected from those who are fraudulent. It is also important that the guidelines take into account that we are all individuals and therefore we all work in different ways.

23rd January 2008

We have now received some of the hard copy petitions from Australia! It also seems that much of Europe is now watching to see how we respond and that what we do will set a precedent.

Come and have your say and help us draw up the guidelines that you are willing to adhere to.
