Joining a development circle If you would like to join a development circle please contact us. Although we are based in the Maldon area in Essex we are prepared to travel and start one in your area. Speak to your friends and colleagues - the more the merrier! Development circles are usually held once a fortnight or once a month if more convenient. If we are not able to come to you or vice versa we might be able to put you in touch with a group in your area. Do you need any previous experience? No! You do not need any previous experience. We also run beginners circles because we all have to start somewhere! How much will it cost to sit in our development circles? We do not charge for development groups that are held at the centre. We feel that we benefit just as much from sharing our knowledge with others. However, we would need to ask for our travel expenses (i.e. money to cover the petrol costs) if we came to you. Obviously the more of you there are the less each of you would have to contribute. We look forward to hearing from you. Our contact details are on the home page. If you would like to know more about what happens in a development circle read on.
What happens in a development circle? When you first start we explain how to meditate safely and show you how to use your spiritual protection. Once everyone is happy with that we then start with a guided meditation followed by a discussion about what we have experienced. This will be different for everyone. No two people will experience the same thing so do not worry if other people seem to have done more or seen more than you! It is your own experience that is important to you. It is not a competition! The idea of meditation is that it is meant to be relaxing. If you are worrying about what others are doing you will not relax and will not get any benefit. If you do nothing else other than feel very relaxed the first time that is fine. If you see or experience more then that's a bonus. The most important thing is to not have any preconceived ideas as to what it will be like. Then you will enjoy it more, which is the whole point! We find our evenings are always full of laughter and fun which is how it should be. After the meditation we go on to do some spiritual/psychic exercises. These can be learning to read cards, ribbons, crystals etc. or other ways of linking into our spiritual guides. We then finish the evening with tea/coffee and cakes and a general chat. Once you have sat in the development group for a while you may feel that you would like to develop your talents further. The next step is to consider joining either the Medium training course and/or the Healer training course or you can just carry on sitting in the development circle. It is entirely up to you when and whether you decide to develop further. However, if you do decide you would like to become a certificated medium with United Spiritualists read on. Medium Training Unlike the healing course which sets a specific minimum time limit there is no set length for medium training. Everybody develops at different rates and in different ways and, as with life, you will never really finish your training as you will always be learning! However, the training is on alternate Monday evenings and is run on similar lines to an ordinary development group except the meditations are much longer and deeper and the level of the exercises that we do after the meditation is much higher. The length of time you will need to attend depends on the individual, how much experience you already have and how quickly you develop. Because there is a qualification at the end of this we charge £3.00 per lesson, as we do for the healing course. You will be encouraged to write, talk in trance and give philosophical addresses (messages) as you would if you were on platform at divine services in spiritual churches and centres. When you are ready you will be able to practice your skills at 'fledgling evenings' at Mersea and Kelvedon amongst other centres and churches. You will also learn how to run your own circles and teach medium development. What are fledgling evenings? Fledgling evenings are when a group of trainee mediums all stand on platform together with an established medium and take it in turn to give messages. It gives you the opportunity to develop your skills without fear of making a fool of yourself because you are not the only one and the audience knows that you are all learning. Once you are more confident and both you and we feel you are ready, you will have the opportunity to do some platform work with David at different churches/centres on a more individual basis. If you would like any more information about how to become a certificated Medium please contact us. Minister Training Another way of developing is to become a spiritual minister. As a spiritual minister you will be able to take weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies etc. If you would like more information on this please contact us
